Peeps / Parasite Positive by Scott WesterfeldMy review
rating: 4 of 5 stars
I enjoyed reading this creepy but entertaining tale where vampirism is the result of a parasitic infection. Those infected are called Parasite Positive or peeps for short and, in most cases, the parasite renders them psychotic cannibals. Westerfeld manages to infuse his story with horror without the gore and science without the bore. Alternate chapters compellingly inform of different real-life parasites. By the end, the reader must consider the awful idea that maybe we need parasites almost as much as they need us.
